An overview of two Hispanic villages south of Albuquerque, New Mexico from the time of early Spanish settlement until the present. Although New Mexico has numerous villages from this time, each has its own unique story. Short biographies and genealogies are included of families, both the wealthy and the less wealthy. These people lived and persevered through land grant disputes, Indian raids, disease, droughts, floods, and the influx of new people, and they managed to preserve their culture, language, and identity.
