Love on Planet Murmurus. A group of humans are mysteriously taken to an alien planet peopled by anthropomorphic carnivores who no longer hunt, but feed upon small domesticated animals in private cubicles, to accommodate and atone for their predatory nature.

Maggie and Josh, estranged ex-lovers, are reunited after a struggle to survive, to assimilate to alien customs, and to find a way home, despite Josh's troubled relationship with a beautiful Murmura healer. Others, including Maggie's pre-adolescent twins, assimilate too well so that when a chance comes to return to Earth, they choose to stay.
