When Charles "Brocky" Livingston staggered out of his taxi in front of the Ogdensburg Police Station in 1921, the second year of Prohibition, the young cab driver was covered in blood.

He described how a mysterious stranger lured him to a deserted road in Lisbon where he was shot 3 times and faced a desperate life-and-death struggle for survival.
