During 22 years of active duty, his two hours in Vietnam were remarkably memorable as he was both an advisor and rifle company commander during the 1967 - 1969 height of the war. In 2007 he became the Executive Director of the Second Marine Division Association. His first three novels are about the Marine wars in Vietnam and Nicaragua.
