As a child growing up in a dysfunctional home, Marie had no control over her chaotic life.

As a teen and young woman, her own reckless decisions sent her reeling out of control until she surrendered her life to Christ.

For more than a decade, Marie hoped that by following "the rules" of her new faith she could finally control her world. And when she couldn't, she hid behind a façade of perfection and just tried harder. It was exhausting.

Gradually, God began loosening her grip on her illusion of control.

Then came the horror of July 20th, 2012.

While Marie and her two daughters were attending the midnight showing of Batman: The Dark Knight Rises at a movie theater in Aurora,

Colorado, a deranged gunman opened fire on the unsuspecting moviegoers. In the aftermath of that tragic event, Marie was grief stricken. She suffered PTSD.

Any lingering hope that she could control her world was ripped to shreds.

And with that stunning realization, she began to discover what she had been longing for her entire life.
