Resilience and Compassion: Surviving the Holocaust
After growing up in war-torn Europe, where her immediate family was hidden by the kind and generous hearted people from the Lozère region of the South of France, Dr. France J. Pruitt immigrated to the US at age 16, hardly speaking any English. Dr. Pruitt received her Bachelor's Degree from Swarthmore College, her Master of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and her doctorate from L'Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes, part of the Sorbonne in Paris. She had a career in the United States in International Education and even though retired, continues to work on a volunteer basis in her professional group, NAFSA, the Association of International Educators. She has 3 sons and 4 granddaughters and continues also to be active in Rotary and her Quaker faith.
