Life isn't fair and the afterlife isn't an exception. With her life cut short by an unknown sickness, Ava finds herself thrust into the afterlife. Barely 19, she struggles against the realization that she never found true fulfillment in her short time on earth.

To Ava's delight, she finds herself dwelling in Celestial, a special plane of existence in which the residents' inherent euphoria --besides her. Even with the emphatic reassurances of her guide, Maybelle, Ava simply can't ignore the sense that something isn't right.
