Far too many young African American males are dying at the hands of people that look like them. There are many factors that contribute to this issue such as pride, anger, jealousy and a host of other determinants. The book also address the role of African American parents, specifically fathers. The overarching theme of the book is that it is not too late for the African American family but we must "renew our mind and become stewards of our homes again before it becomes too late."
