In the snowy heart of Antarctica lives a penguin named Velvet; but unlike the others, she dreams of flying.

Velvet wants to soar through the clouds, feel the wind under her wings, and see the world from above.

When her inventive friend Daisy suggests they build a plane, a daring adventure begins. As they take to the skies for the very first time, a sudden storm threatens to end it all.

Will Velvet and Daisy make it out alive? Or will their dream of flying be lost to the winds?

Rhea Khare is the author and illustrator of The Flying Penguin. A student of industrial design, Rhea combines her love for visual storytelling and poetic narrative to create quiet, imaginative worlds. The idea for this book began with a simple question that stayed with her:

What if a penguin could fly?

Inspired by her fascination with flight, unexplored places, and the mysteries of cold, remote regions, Rhea imagined a world where a penguin builds a plane to venture beyond the familiar, discovering lands once thought unreachable.

When she's not designing or drawing, Rhea enjoys observing clouds, diving into history, and unwinding with Netflix.
