The History of Pangrati Kalavryta, Peloponnese, Greece: Παγκράτι Καλάβρυ

De (autor): Theodore P. Georgas

Georgas, Theodore P.: - Theodore P. Georgas has a love of history and has been his family's historian for over 26 years. In his research he has found ancestors and discovered new cousins with a variety of backgrounds and accomplishments. He has spent the last several years studying Greek history and especially delving into the Pangrati, Kalavryta region of the Peloponnese. He has become very adept at interpreting documents written in Greek, German, French and Italian. His family tree is comprised of over 10,000 individuals. He has spent much of his research time learning about what life was like for his grand parents as they left their homeland of Greece. His grandfather was only 15 when he ran away from home and worked in the port of Patras until he could afford to pay for a trip on a ship to the USA. Why would his grandfather leave his beloved home and his family and travel halfway around the whole to a place that he knew very little about? These are the kinds of questions that drives Theodore P. Georgas, who is named after his grandfather, to strive to fully understand places such as Pangrati Greece where both of his Greek grandparents were born and raised. Theodore is a Civil Engineer that has worked on hundreds of highway improvement projects in the Chicago Illinois region. His engineering background makes him an ardent researcher always trying to find all the detailed evidence to get the whole story. In designing a bridge over a river or highway he wanted to always make sure the bridge would be safe for generations of motorists; he also desires for his family history research to be just as detailed and accurate. The same goes for his writing of history book, such as The History of Pangrati Kalavryta, Peloponnese, Greece. Theodore lives with his wife Mary, in Palatine, Illinois and has two adult children, Allison and Dan.
