It was just one little lie...how could things have gotten this out of control?

After all her sisters' happy-ever-afters, Kitty Bennet found herself the last spinster standing. Outwardly she accepted her fate as the only unmarried Bennet sister and readied herself for a life taking care of her aging parents. Inwardly though, she longed for a life as exciting as anything Eliza or Jane could imagine, and so she told one little lie. No one would find out, and Kitty could finally experience being praised by someone, even if it was for a dowry that didn't exist.

But then, a money-grubbing suitor turns up looking to take advantage of her pretend inheritance, and Kitty has to think fast, and the only thing she can think of is another lie.

Will a pretend engagement to her uncle's new law clerk solve all her problems, or will Kitty's lies destroy everything she's trying to protect?
