What a Nice Day it Was. Stories by an American Doctor.

De (autor): Olga Goldfarb Lev

Imagine a deck of postcards, each one a gateway to a different world. Pick one at random.

One might plunge you into the lives of Jewish refuseniks in Moscow; another might take you through the demanding life of an American resident doctor. You might spend time at a fragile dacha on the outskirts of Moscow during the harsh winter, or traverse the fascinating roads of Vietnam and Cambodia. You'll visit a Soviet maternity hospital from the eighties or attend a support group for families with autistic children in the USA. And there's so much more. The author guides you through various times, countries, and scenarios - occasionally venturing into the realm of fairy tales.

Though seemingly light-hearted (the author refers to them as fables), these stories will prompt profound reflections on love, family, parenthood, human nature, war, and loss. Through these stories, you'll explore the myriad threads that form the fabric of life.

Olga Goldfarb Lev is an American pediatrician and neurologist. She graduated from the Pirogov Second Moscow Medical Institute and completed her residency in pediatric neurology at Morozovskaya Hospital. She worked as a pediatric neurologist in Moscow. During her eleven years as a refusenik, she was actively involved in Jewish cultural life. In 1990, she emigrated to the United States with her husband and two daughters. Her medical career in the U.S. spanned more than thirty years. During this time, she achieved the highest medical qualifications in pediatrics, neurology, and headache treatment. Having written stories for many years, she has been published in Snob Magazine and has garnered a substantial following online. Now retired, she lives in New Jersey with her husband - the photographer Yuri Lev - and their poodle, Mika.
